The Church of Universal Compassion
In his 1865 book Six Months at the White House with Abraham Lincoln, author Francis Bicknell Carpenter wrote: “The conversation turned upon religious subjects, and Mr. Lincoln made this impressive remark: ‘I have never united myself to any church, because I have found difficulty in giving my assent, without mental reservation, to the long, complicated statements of Christian doctrine which characterize their Articles of Belief and Confessions of Faith. When any church will inscribe over its altar, as its sole qualification for membership, the Savior’s condensed statement of the substance of both Law and Gospel, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and thy neighbor as thyself,” that church will I join with all my heart and all my soul.’”
We endeavor to be that church!
The Compassionist Church was founded to accomplish the following purposes:
Our purpose is to provide a home for disaffected Christians and others searching for God, to follow the teaching of Jesus: that God loves all people, that every person is a child of God, and that every child of God has the right and ability to return to unity with the Father.
If you find you identify with the purposes and beliefs expressed above and would like to learn more, we invite you to contact us and discuss what the Church of Universal Compassion can offer you!
